A Grease Trap prevents fats, oils and grease (FOG) produced by commercial kitchens from entering the drainage system and causing blockages. They act as a filter between sinks and dishwashers and the main sewer system, preventing blockages that will require drain jetting.
It is vital that businesses take responsibility with regard to the correct disposal of all FOG products. If a business has no measures in place to prevent FOG products from entering drains, such as suitable Grease Traps, they will be on the receiving end of a hefty cleaning bill and maybe even a fine and prosecution. We also offer grease trap maintenance services.
Our Grease Traps for commercial kitchens are installed in drains as an interceptor to seperate oils, fats, grease and food waste from water, which prevents these substances entering the public drainage system.
How do Grease Traps work?
When waste is poured down the sink it runs into the grease trap. Any solid matter sinks to the bottom, the water remains in the middle and any lighter FOG floats on the top. Only the filtered waste water flows into the drainage system.
Grease Trap Installation
All grease traps should be installed by a professional as the traps must be specified to the flow rate rate of your sinks and dishwashers. Contact Maintain Drains if you require Grease Trap Installation or Maintenance.
Don’t just take our word for it! Take a look at some of our previous feedback from domestic and commercial customers in and around Dorset.

Absolutely brilliant, had a problem with the shop loo, gave them a ring and within a couple of hours everything was sorted. Pleasant young man, still smiling after what he had to do was amazing. They are also very, very competitive price wise. I would highly recommend Maintain Drains to anyone , thank you once again

Came out as emergency within 30 minutes of phoning at about 7pm. Arrived when they said they would. Nice guy, who sorted a very unpleasant problem, with friendly courtesy and good humour. Also had a follow up call next day, which was much appreciated. Would absolutely recommend them. Many thanks for getting us out of a sticky situation.

Spoke to Jon at Maintain prior to our house purchase as a house surveyor's report does not give sufficient information. Could not fault the service. Video's of all the drains. a map of their location and description of condition which is incredibly useful for future plans. He arranged everything which was appreciated as we are (were) not local and the report was with us the next day. Like the electrician who inspected the electrical installation; both worth every penny of their fees prior to a house purchase.

Called on Christmas day and found the chap on the phone to be really helpful, got us out of a pickle and resolved our blocked toilets. Would recommend to anyone.

Grease Traps for Commercial Kitchens
Do I need a Grease Trap?
It is vital that businesses have Grease Trap installation. The issue of large ‘bergs’ or ‘fatbergs’ in drainage systems, created from build-ups of fat and grease, have begun to impact on not only the free flowing of waste water but also the environment. For this reason authorities are now tracing ‘berg’ formations back to the source, which may result in the business being prosecuted.
