As we approach twenty years in business, I have spent a lot of time reflecting on how far Maintain Drains has come since I first started the company in 2006. What began as a small local service has grown into a trusted drainage partner for homes, businesses and major organisations across Dorset and Hampshire.
The one question I am asked more than any other is simple.
Why do customers choose Maintain Drains over other drainage companies?
After two decades of working in this industry, the answer has become clearer than ever.
We began as a local, family run company and we still operate that way today
When I started Maintain Drains, I wanted to build a company based on honesty, reliability and proper workmanship. That focus has never changed.
We are still local. We are still family run. And every job we do reflects directly on our name.
Customers notice this difference.
One review recently said,
“Absolutely fantastic service from start to finish. Polite, quick to respond and knew exactly what to do.”
For me, that represents what we set out to achieve twenty years ago.
Our engineers are the reason we have grown for two decades
People often talk about machinery and equipment in drainage, but the real difference is the engineers who knock on the door. I am incredibly proud of our team. They work with professionalism, respect and skill on every job.
A customer described this perfectly:
“Very professional service. Kept me informed the whole way through. Super professional and hassle free.”
Another said,
“Arrived within twenty minutes, found the problem in less than ten and fixed it shortly after.”
These comments are not accidental. They are the result of nearly twenty years of consistent standards and continual training.
We have built a complete drainage service from the ground up
In 2006 we were mainly unblocking drains. By 2026 we will have logged thousands of CCTV surveys, relined pipes across the region, installed and serviced pump stations, managed commercial grease traps and deployed vacuum tankers for large scale waste removal.
This expansion was intentional. I wanted customers to feel confident that one company could handle their immediate problem and also support them with maintenance, repairs and long term solutions.
A customer with a larger project recently said,
“Arrived as scheduled on both visits and were very neat, professional and pleasant throughout. No hesitation in recommending them.”
That professionalism across small and large jobs is something we have worked hard to build over twenty years.
We invested early in modern technology because guessing is expensive
Drainage is one of those industries where hidden problems can cost customers far more than they should.
This is why we invested in CCTV equipment, high pressure jetting, root cutting units and vacuum tankers long before many smaller drainage companies did. Accurate diagnosis protects our customers. It builds trust. It prevents the same issue from returning.
It also gives commercial clients the evidence they need for compliance and insurance.
After twenty years, I can say confidently that this investment has defined the quality of our work.
We respond quickly because emergencies cannot wait
Blocked drains, failed pumps and flooding do not happen at convenient times.
This is why we operate twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.
We have never charged call out fees.
We have always provided free, fast quotations.
It is one of the reasons so many customers come back to us.
As one homeowner put it,
“They came the next day and sorted it quickly. Super professional.”
For our commercial clients, this level of responsiveness protects their operations, their staff and their reputation.
We are trusted by major organisations as well as local homeowners
Over the years we have earned the trust of councils, emergency services, retailers, restaurants, hotels and property managers. Many of these relationships have lasted for years because we provide consistent results and transparent communication.
At the same time, we give homeowners the same standard of work. Every customer, every property and every job matters.
One recent review summed this up perfectly:
“Took less than ten minutes to identify the problem and sorted it in another few minutes.”
This level of efficiency is what customers remember and why they call us again.
Our focus has always been long term solutions, not repeat call outs
From the beginning, I wanted to build a company that fixed the cause of the problem, not just the symptoms.
Two decades later, that approach has proven itself.
We explain what went wrong, how it can be prevented and what your best options are. We support commercial clients with maintenance plans and help homeowners avoid unnecessary future costs.
This long term mindset is a big part of why we are still here twenty years later.
Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond
Reaching the twenty year mark is something I am incredibly proud of, but longevity only matters if it is built on the right values.
- Honesty.
- Reliability.
- Proper workmanship.
- Respect for your home or business.
These values shaped us in 2006 and they will continue to define Maintain Drains as we move into our next decade of service.
Thank you for your trust over the past twenty years. Whether you run a busy commercial site or need help at home, we are here whenever you need us, twenty four hours a day.
